MEET OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

 

Dr. Jodi L. Falk  (sign name JF, at the corner of mouth) began working at St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf in August 2019.  She brought with her over 25 years of experience in our field of Deaf Education.  Her education, work and research experience are in field of Language, Literacy, Professional Development, Deaf and Special Education.

Prior to joining the SFDS community, Dr. Falk was the Upper School Educational Supervisor for St. Joseph’s School for the Deaf in the Bronx, N.Y.  She also held the positions of Parent- Infant Teacher at St.  Joseph’s School for the Deaf, an Early Intervention service provider in Westchester County, N.Y., and a self- contained high school teacher for the Deaf in NYC Department of Education.

In addition to working in the school setting, Dr. Falk has been an academic, presenting her work at professional conferences, teaching graduate level courses, and writing studies for peer reviewed journals.

Dr. Falk received her BA in Speech-Language Pathology from Hofstra University and both her MA and PhD degrees in the Education of the Deaf from Teachers College, Columbia University. She has also received a PD in School District Administration from the College of New Rochelle and attended Gallaudet University’s Family Center Early Education program.
