Volunteering Opportunities at St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf
St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf in Brooklyn welcomes community members into our programs for volunteer opportunities. Please see below for the requirements needed to volunteer.
Volunteer Requirements
- Fingerprint clearance by NYCDOE o Registration in PETS (Personal Eligibility Tracking System)
- Submission and clearance of fingerprints through IdenToGo services
- Knowledge of and skills with American Sign Language
- Over 18 years of age
- Availability from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm on school days
- Demonstrates ability to work in a calm, respectful and professional manner
- Willingness to work with a variety of students and staff and to follow instructions of staff
- Must follow SFDS’ policies and procedure throughout the volunteer experience
- Proof of COVID vaccinations

An interview with the department supervisor will be scheduled once your paperwork has been submitted and your fingerprints are cleared.
